Live Your Life Without Drugs, Disease, Dementia or Depression
We're in the midst of a chronic illness epidemic. There is a one in two chance you'll end up with a chronic illness. It's likely you know someone or you are someone who is sick.
Chronic stress and poor eating and lifestyle habits have increased dramatically in the last 20 years followed by a dramatic increase in chronic illness. Diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimers, Fibromyalgia, Lyme Disease, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are disrupting the quality of life for millions of people and yet it appears we are decades away from the medical community connecting the dots and targeting the true causes of these illnesses. Sicknesses like cancer, heart disease and diabetes are sweeping the world.
It's not surprisiing. Modern medicine maintains the importance of proper nutrition, yet on average, U.S. medical schools only offer 19.6 hours of nutrition education across four years of medical education, according to a recent perspective piece in Academic Medicine. “This corresponds to less than 1 percent of estimated total lecture hours,” they wrote. “Moreover, the majority of this educational content relates to biochemistry, not diets or practical, food-related decision making.” And just as shocking is the fact that less than 4% of medical shcools even have a required course on pain.
Obviously large drug companies benefit tremendously from the medical community's virtual sole reliance on multiples of pills, which fosters dependence, addiction and only addresses the symptoms, virtually never the cause.
If your health is suffering in any way, perhaps it's time to become proactive and take more responsibility for your situation. After all, no one will ever care more about your health than you do. So why not do the most empowering thing possible and begin taking steps towards adjusting your diet and lifestyle? The impact these changes might have on your brain and central nervous system (CNS) can be profound. Tomorrow, today will be yesterday; there is no time like now to start living differently. Your only side effects may be better health.
Many people underestimate the role that targeted nutritional changes, exercise and meditation can play in achieving optimum health as well as healing from chronic illness. We believe that food really is your best medicine. Healing your gut and digestive system is often a first step in overcoming dis-ease. Having strategies for dealing with trauma and stress are also vitally important.
Emotions are deeply rooted in the neural wiring between the heart and brain, and have a direct impact on the body's hormonal system. Chronic stress and anger can cripple our immune response, cause impaired memory and learning, and contribute to increased fat around the waist and hips. When we shut down emotionally, this can virtually guarantee impaired health.
