I've seen first hand what happens when people put off making positive lifestyle changes. I remember well my dear patient Peter, who inspired me to wholeheartedly pursue prevention and health promotion, rather than just rehabilitation. At first, because of an unmanaged, lifestyle-related chronic illness, he lost two toes on his left foot. Then, a few weeks later, he had his foot amputated. Before long, he had a below-the-knee amputation, and was waiting to be fitted for a prothesis. Finally, his leg was amputated above the knee. Yikes!
How can a health and wellness coach help you to stay well and prevent chronic problems? Let me ask you: Do you ever find that you know what to do, but just aren't sure how to do it? For example, many of us know that it's healthy to cut down our sugar intake, but it's not so simple to begin. Sugar is everywhere, and we crave it sometimes. What to do? This is where coaching comes in.
As an Occupational Therapist, I've had lots of experience with helping people realize and learn how to best apply medical advice they are given. It isn't so hard when you have a plan for how to succeed. And as a Neurofeedback provider, I know how much easier it is to achieve your goals when you harness the power of your own physiology.
Personally, I love working with clients on making health-related changes they care most about, using a collaborative, partnership model. I've had a lifelong interest in health, and have gained a wealth of personal and professional experience with promoting health.
Working together is fun (for me too!) because starting to feel good brings Joy and a sense of accomplishment, in addition to the fact that you just plain feeling better.
If you are one of the lucky ones who can achieve healthier habits on your own, that's great. If you're questioning yourself, and wondering why change seems daunting, it may be time to get help.
Remember, it costs much less to prevent a problem than it does to live with it or try to overcome it once it has developed. What particular challenge are you facing, and what's at stake?
If you haven't done so already, schedule a time to talk about your situation, and how working together could potentially reduce your stress, improve your health, and give you better outcomes.

The biggest falsehood propagated is that chronic disease and pain will have to be managed the rest of your life.
This creates fear. The more intense your fear, the more suffering will continue.
I don't want your suffering to continue for even one more day.
Being labeled with a chronic disease is awful. What's even worse is when you are left with no help or cut off from insurance, or your friends or family don't understand what you're going through.
